The Aston tale began with the desire to produce something fresh and different, something cheap, and something created in the United Kingdom...the heartland of the music business. James Young, the owner and managing director of Aston, envisioned a UK-made microphone brand that distinguishes out from the plethora of Chinese OEM brands in terms of creativity, technical and engineering quality, and sound performance. To do this, Young and his colleagues had to totally rethink microphone design concepts, employing cutting-edge techniques and materials. The Aston team pulled off something that nobody else had the courage to do delivering stunning performance at a low cost. “All of these engineering savings meant we could focus resources on the sound, and yet we’d actually dramatically improved the technical performance of the mic… that’s good British engineering.” says James Young, Owner and Managing Director of Aston Microphones.
