By 1978, when the official tale begins, Tony Andrews had met Tim Isaac and formed Turbosound with the help of John Newsham, a well-known sound engineer. They started developing, manufacturing, and renting out their cutting-edge speaker systems. Alan Wick and his business partner Mark Hardy were running the profitable Muscle Music rental firm in London at the same time. By 1980, market demand had pushed them to outsource the majority of their equipment, and Turbosound's systems had piqued their interest.
